P-70DBooth Report · laser vs xenon, computed for your booth

Your booth

SMPTE film open-gate is 16 fL; 14 fL is common practice.
Street anchors: XBO 2 kW ≈ $560 · 3 kW ≈ $700 · 4.5 kW ≈ $1,050; 15/70 GT lamps far higher.
Alignment visits, spare handling, PPE, disposal.
Indicative install-included range; grants often cover capex.

What money can't buy back

Print safety. No infrared in the beam and a microsecond electronic douser: a film stall never melts a frame. Your archive loans get safer, not riskier.
No bulb handling. No pressurized-bulb PPE, no explosion risk in the booth, no alignment drift between changes, no dead-bulb show cancellations.
Constant image. Laser brightness and color hold for ~30,000 h, so the last show of the year looks like the first.
Quieter, cooler booth. ~85% less heat means smaller exhaust needs and a booth you can think in.

Prepared with the P-70D parametric engineering model (first-order photometry: your screen area × target luminance → required lumens → laser bank sizing at phosphor-engine defaults; xenon side from your lamp, bulb price, rated life, schedule and tariff). Assumptions are editable in the interactive version. Figures are scoping estimates for discussion, not a quotation. Silvermill, LLC (in formation).
